18 Sep NHHC 2’s 0 – Bangor 7 Match Report
The scoreline does not reflect the match, In fact it you take away the fact that 5 of Bangors 7 were from Bangor’s 1’s short corner specialists and 4 of those were drag flicked top bins actually the game was pretty even. The best bit was that for more than half the team it was the first time on a hockey pitch for nearly 2 years and we actually played some good hockey. We were joined by a number of super juniors fresh from the Nottingham tournament and they all played really well against good opposition. All received the ball well, played the ball well and all took on and have beaten people 5 -10 years older than them. It was great to see. There were good combinations and D penetrations through the game and a few times we were close to scoring the goal I think we deserved. I think for the 2’s that will probably be our hardest assignment of the season so to get that under our belts was a great thing. Super well done to Ian Taylor, what great shape you are in at least 4 times matching pace with fast uni lads to shepherd the ball away. MVP from me (not that I am aloud it’s not my team). I may not get to play every week (and I hope they are not all in goal as I appear to be the opposite of a ball magnet) but I will try and post each week. I have a feeling there will be more victories and daring do’s to shout about than defeats to write up. Looking forward to next week, get your name down on teamo asap please and help the Captains.
